Week of March 31,2014  Prambanan  and other Hindu Temples.  The area of Yogyakarta with the missionaries.

Prambanan is the largest Hindu Temple site in Indonesia, and one of the biggest in Southeast Asia. Built in about 930 AD. It has been impacted by a number of earthquake and volcanic eruptions over the centuries. But is still an impressive site to behold.

People just love to have their pictures taken with a foreigner

We drove about 20 minutes away from Prambanan towards another temple site and had some impressive panoramic views of the city of Yogyakarta and the countryside. Prambanan is the small uptick in the landscape in the center

Plaosan Temple another ancient Hindu site

I often wonder as looking over these ancient ruins what it would have been like to live then? How much different would it have looked? What were the people like, their cultures, their thoughts?

Farmers along the wayside. Planting a new crop of rice, one stalk at a time

The Yogyakarta missionaries. When we work in an area we sometimes try to stay over on a Monday (our prep day) and when possible take the missionaries out to see the sites . They love it and we enjoy the opportunity to be with them. They are wonderful young men and women. Some from Indonesia and some from other areas of the world. Not sure what the mascot is?
"Tamansari," which means water castle. This was the bath house for the sultan and his 14 concubines. Built about 300 years ago
