February 4-7, 2014   Bali

Less you think that Senior missionary work is work all of the time..... we took the opportunity to join with other missionary couples at a 'couples conference," along with our mission president (President Donald and his wife) for 4 days in beautiful Bali.

Enjoying lunch in an open air restaurant

We visited a monkey forest. We just walked thru this natural habitat. It was amazing, the monkeys in all sizes, beautiful lush shrubbery, mammoth trees and vines and even a Hindu Temple.
I just kept my hands tucked into my pockets!!
It was a bit weird to have monkeys come up to you and eyeing you over, looking for goodies.

If you had food or anything the monkeys may be interested in they would climb on you, over you, reach in your pockets or whatever. We had been forewarned so we didn't go in with anything but our camera.

                                                      The view looking straight up.
At one point it started to rain pretty hard and we barely noticed.

We sailed into paradise on a catamaran ride out to a beach on Lembongan island about  2 hours away.

                                                          Beautiful pristine waters.

We took an island tour.  This is seaweed that will be dried and sold for food and medicine
The dark areas under the the boats is the seaweed plants. When the tide goes out the farmers can walk to the land on the otherside.

As wonderful as this week has been, there is still the need to follow up on coming events and working through future action plans. Next week we will be traveling to North Sumatra where a volcano 'Mt Sinabung,' has been erupting. Last week it was reported that 18 people were killed and as many as 60,000  have been evacuated. We just received approval for humanitarian funds to provide food, water, blankets, hygiene kits and medicine to help those in need.
